Survey on the Use of β-Blockers in Seoul National University Hospital

Abstract

|
The purpose of this study is to analyze the use of β-blockers prescribed in our hospital in terms of the frequencies, indications and drug interaction with concomitant drugs. The usages of β-blockers were gradually increased from 1978 compared with other antihypertensive drug and recently the use of Atenolol and Carteolol were remarkably increased but use of Propranolol is decreased even though it is still widely used in many indications. β-blockers were mainly sued for the treatment of hypertension and varix bleeding. β-blockers were prescribed with other drugs concomitantly in 92％ of the prescription and some of the drug interaction were noticed in the prescription.
